We all know the biblical story of Adam and Eve as written in Genesis. We know that God gave them everything and only told them not to partake of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. We know they were tempted by the devil in disguise, the snake, who told them to eating the fruit would make them like God. They ate the fruit, became aware of their nudity, felt ashamed, and “covered up” their privates with leaves.
We were taught that when God saw Adam and Eve had disobeyed Him, they were cast out of the Garden of Eden into a world or travail and pain. We were further taught (when we were old enough) that sex was the “sin” represented by the sharing of fruit.
Could there be a more perfect parable describing Gain of Function (GoF) research and the subsequent Covid Pandemic?
Even the sex part is the equivalent of restriction on social contact. Moreover, both the pandemic and subsequent concerns about vaccine shedding have put a damper on dating that persists.
Whoever tempted power structures to seek more power by creating new life through GoF can only be devils. What arrogance to think the little we know is sufficient for us to reach for more power, to the point of creating new life that is not natural to this planet!
Earth evolved over billions of years- and it evolved very, very slowly. It is (or has been) a paradise for humans. Engineering feats like sanitation, good diet, and physical exercise are the most important things for maintaining good health. Beyond that, the natural world is full of medicines which indigenous culture successfully used for generations, despite what Big Pharma would have us believe.
Yet, our hubris has sent us down the path of the biblical Adam and Eve and the Greek Icarus who ignored warnings not to fly “too close to the sun” so subsequently plunged to his death when the wax fastenings on his wings melted.
We are part of this world, not its ruler. We don’t know what we don’t know. To arrogantly and ignorantly play with the elementary building blocks in laboratories and factories over which we have minimal control is a certain path to perdition.
That Peter Dasizk (EcoHealth), Tony Fauci (NIAID), and Ralph Baric (UNC at Chapel Hill), have conspired and colluded with others in their networks to “cover-up” their transgressions, while Bill Gates, the WEF and WHO seek to further profit from this the unprecedented disaster of a GoF bat pathogen that was not transmissible among humans and other species becoming lose in the world as a respiratory virus and THEN injecting billions with a risky and ineffective vaccine that in itself can transmit more illness, perhaps even a new form of “infectious dementia”1 is a crime of Biblical proportions.
I’ve always appreciated the wisdom of traditional stories, from Aesop’s fables to Gilgamesh to Fairy Tales to Bible Stories. These stories persist for a reason - to teach us important lessons, such as humility, temperance and consideration of others. Unfortunately, too many of us fail to learn those lessons.
Here are a few more relevant parables:
Pandora’s Box - curiosity will unleash destruction
The Tale of Bluebeard - the charming suitor who is a manipulative monster
King Midas - greed for power and money will rob us of what really matters
The Tower of Babel - reaching for heaven while of this earth will divide people
Allow me to end with my own admonition: Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should do it.
